About the Presenters

Philip Blum '99 is currently a Vice-President, Senior Counsel at CA Technologies, a global provider of IT management software and solutions. CA Technologies, a publicly-traded company with more than 11,000 employees, is more than 40 years old and has offices in dozens of countries. His team oversees and manages the company’s global litigation. Mr. Blum is based in the company’s Islandia, Long Island office.

Prior to joining CA Technologies in 2014, Mr. Blum was a Litigation Partner at Bingham McCutchen LLP. Prior to joining Bingham, he was an associate at Brown, Rayman, Millstein, Felder & Steiner LLP.

Rob Rando began his legal career as an Associate with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, followed by the patent firms of Kenyon & Kenyon and Hopgood, Calimafde, Kalil & Judlowe. He is the Founding Member and Lead Counsel of The Rando Law Firm P.C.

His professional experience spans over twenty-five years as a federal civil litigator. Primarily his experience has been focused on the litigation of patent infringement and intellectual property disputes.

He is experienced in a wide range of technologies, including computer hardware and software, silicon chip manufacturing, biotechnology products, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, chemical compounds, food additives, alternative energy products, consumer electronics, communications, security, Internet and e-commerce.

Joe Salvo is the executive vice president and general counsel at Sesame Workshop. Heis responsible for the nonprofit organization’s legal work, business affairs and government relations.

Mr. Salvo previously served as General Counsel of HiT Entertainment, the children’s entertainment company where he led the legal and business affairs team, in NYC and London, responsible for brands including Barney, Thomas the Tank, Bob the Builder and Angelina Ballerina. He also served as Vice President & Associate General Counsel at Mattel, Inc., (which acquired HiT in February 2012) with shared responsibility for the Mattel legal and business affairs group. He oversaw business and legal matters for all forms of audio and audiovisual production and licensing, including television, film, audio, digital services and home video, publishing and consumer products.

Prior to becoming General Counsel to HiT, Mr. Salvo spent 13 years working for a combination of Sony Music, Arista Records and Sony BMG Music Entertainment, where he was involved in a wide variety of contract, licensing and intellectual property issues and personally handled contract negotiations and drafting for such artists as Bruce Springsteen, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Yo Yo Ma and John Mayer.
